Targeted for Safety: Groups 4 & 5

AMC 20-22 establishes specific target groups to ensure personnel receive training suited to their exact operational impact. This course covers the technical requirements for Target Groups 4 and 5:

Target Group 4 (Qualified staff performing general maintenance/inspections not involving wire maintenance (LRU change is not considered wire maintenance): These staff members are personnel who perform maintenance on aeroplane that may require removal/reconnection of electrical connective devices (e.g. inspectors/technicians cat A or B1).
Target Group 5 (Qualified staff performing other engineering or planning work on in-service aeroplane.): These staff members are personnel who are authorised to design mechanical/structure systems installations, modifications and repairs, or personnel who are authorised to plan maintenance tasks.

Course Objectives & Syllabus

Safety Practices & Environmental Hazards: Recognizing the dangers of improper wire handling and contamination (such as fluid ingress, metal shavings, and chemical exposure).
Cleanliness & Zonal Inspections: Implementing the Protect and Clean As You Go philosophy. You will learn what constitutes a proper EWIS inspection within specific aircraft zones.
Typical Damage: Identifying types of damage within electrical systems and where they are most likely to occur.
Bonding and Grounds: Understand the requirements of bonding and grounding within aircraft.
Human Factors in Wiring: Understanding how complacency, poor lighting, or rushed work can lead to latent wiring defects.
